In this masterclass with renowned Brooklyn producer Nick Hook, you’ll have a chance to look into his recent experiences working across Latin America to produce Run The Jewels’ most recent album, RTJ CU4TRO. Nick will share his vision and execution for this major undertaking, including working with vocalists and instrumentalists in many different countries. This will include a deep dive into his recording and production process and the gear he used, whether in a jungle, a bedroom, or a professional studio.
Part of Nick’s philosophy is to be able to travel with a small backpack and, as he says, “make the most of what you have to make your music.” In other words, it’s totally possible to work with whatever you have and still wind up with a professional quality record.
In addition to RTJ, Hook has collaborated over the years with countless artists across the genre spectrum, including Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lido Pimienta, Action Bronson, Akapellah, DJ Rashad, Chino Moreno, Hudson Mohawke, Spank Rock, ILOVEMAKONNEN, Prefuse 73, and producing exclusive music for Grand Theft Auto. He currently spends his time living and working between New York, Mexico City and Medellin. Don’t miss your chance to catch him while he’s stateside for this eye-opening masterclass.
As always, the meetup is open to producers, songwriters, DJs, and musicians of all types and proficiency levels looking to exchange ideas, network, meet like-minded producers, and learn new tips and tricks from our presenters and fellow participants.
