Immerse yourself in the world of music technology

Core Virtual Classes

Students will be immersed in a full day of classes and activities, both on their computer and away from their computer, from music production, music theory, and songwriting, to music history and appreciation, collaboration, and performance.

Music Production

Learn the ins and outs of one of the most powerful music-making software, Ableton Live, and bring your musical ideas to life to compose full tracks. Techniques covered include sampling, audio recording, applying audio effects, mixing, and exporting your song so that it is play-ready.

Music Theory

Learn how music theory forms the foundation for music composition, songwriting, and general music fluency. Topics covered include learning the rudiments of the piano, scales, intervals, harmony, chord progressions, and the Circle of 5ths.

Songwriting

Learn how a song is made from start o finish, exploring topics such as lyric writing techniques, “what makes a strong melody,” building a chord progression, and composing a bassline. Analyze songs by successful artists to learn about writing a hook, song structure, and arrangement.

Collaboration

Learn about the importance of collaboration, and meet your peers. Students will work on music projects in their own time, either in groups or individually, supervised by an instructor to provide support for feedback and questions.

Music History

Discover the rich history and evolution of modern popular music, and explore how music technology has shaped music evolution over the last 50 years. Learn who inspired some of our favorite artists, and how they incorporate music technology into their sound.

Perform/DJ/Remix

Students will learn how to perform their music, as well as learn about important performance-based skills such as DJing and remixing. On the final day of the program, all students will perform their music virtually for their friends and family.
